Hi! My name is Melanie Elizabeth Bates. I am a Washington, DC-based attorney and owner of Melanie Bates Consulting, LLC. I am also a passionate violinist.
Music transforms our overall well-being. I am dedicated to performing for senior living communities, assisted living facilities, child development centers, places of worship, and other nonprofit organizations. I strive to make a meaningful connection with every person in the audience.
I started playing violin in fourth grade. My parents invested time and resources toward my development, paying for private lessons and accessories. I emerged as a talented musician and was admitted into the advanced orchestra. I stopped when I got to high school because I didn’t think it was “cool.”
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I started playing again! In June 2024, during Black Music Month, I launched Melanie the Violinist’s Black Musician Academy which educates the community on the impact of Black classical composers. I cherish the ability to share my passion.
