A B O U T
Melanie Elizabeth Bates is an attorney, consultant, and violinist dedicated to sharing the healing power of music with the community. She specializes in performing for older adults, assisted living facilities, memory care centers, places of worship, and other nonprofit organizations.
The violin brings balance and purpose to Melanie's life. She played when she was younger and always dreamed of resuming her passion. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she started playing again! In June 2024, she launched Melanie the Violinist’s Black Musician Academy which amplifies the tremendous contributions of Black classical composers. Her performances are much more than entertainment - they are educational, engaging, and empowering.
Melanie is a native of the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Hampton University and a Juris Doctor from North Carolina Central University School of Law.
